A country famous for its Pyramids - which to this day hold huge mysteries and puzzles which remain unsolved - Egypt is famed for its ancient civilization that dates back to 3150 B.C. The Great Pyramid of Giza remains one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The longest river in the world, the Nile, also runs through Egypt.
Egypt experiences several natural hazards such as droughts, earthquakes, flash floods, landslides, windstorms - for which the Egyptian word is “khamsin” - as well as dust storms and sandstorms - all of which were once attributed to the powers of gods.
