The home of the English language, The United Kingdom has contributed immensely to the fields of art, poetry and philosophy throughout its history. Home to a man who is considered the greatest writer in the English language – William Shakespeare – The UK has been a key figure in the world’s collective vocabulary and has connected isolated countries as a result. Although Shakespeare is arguably their most famous writer, England has also been home to other greats such as Oscar Wilde, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, T.S Eliot and Virginia Woolf.
